Welcome to the FAQ page for Therapy for California Moms! If you're a millennial mom navigating the ups and downs of pregnancy, postpartum, or early motherhood, you’ve come to the right place. Below, I’ve answered some of the most common questions I get about therapy, mental health support, and how we can work together to help you thrive—not just survive Motherhood.

1. What is therapy for moms, and how can it help me?

Therapy for moms focuses on the emotional challenges that come with motherhood, including depression and anxiety during pregnancy, postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, mom burnout, and relationship stress. I offer a judgment-free space where you can talk about your struggles without fear of shame or guilt. In therapy, we work on building self-care strategies, managing overwhelming feelings, and prioritizing your mental health. Together, we’ll help you reconnect with your identity, reclaim balance, and find joy in motherhood.

2. How do I know if I need therapy for postpartum depression or anxiety?

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, anxious, or disconnected during pregnancy or postpartum, you may be dealing with depression or anxiety during pregnancy or postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety. These conditions are more than just temporary mood swings—they can interfere with your ability to care for yourself or your baby. Symptoms include feelings of sadness, irritability, racing thoughts, panic attacks, and physical exhaustion. Therapy can help by addressing negative thought patterns, building coping skills, and offering support for your emotional well-being. You don’t need to do this alone. You deserve support. I can help!

3. How does virtual therapy work, and how can it help me as a busy mom?

I offer virtual therapy for moms in San Diego, Orange County and anywhere in California, which allows you to access support from the comfort of your home, car, or office. Whether you’re balancing work, parenting, or self-care, virtual therapy fits into your busy schedule. We’ll use video calls or phone sessions to work together on your emotional well-being, with flexible scheduling that works for you. Virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy, and it’s ideal for moms who need convenience and privacy while seeking support for mental health struggles.

4. How do I know if I have postpartum depression or anxiety?

Postpartum depression involves persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or exhaustion that don’t improve after a few weeks. Symptoms might include a lack of interest in your baby, trouble sleeping, irritability, or guilt. Postpartum anxiety, on the other hand, is marked by constant worrying, panic attacks, or obsessive thoughts about your baby’s safety. Both are treatable through therapy and support. If you’re struggling with these symptoms, it's time to reach out for help. Therapy can help you manage these feelings, learn coping strategies, and begin the healing process.

5. How can therapy help with mom burnout and self-care?

Mom burnout happens when you're exhausted from trying to do it all—care for your baby, keep up with responsibilities, and manage your own needs. Therapy can help by offering tools to manage stress, set boundaries, and develop a self-care routine that fits your life. We’ll work on managing mom guilt and giving yourself permission to take breaks. Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary for your mental health and the well-being of your family. Therapy can support you in reclaiming your energy and finding balance between being a mom and being you.

6. What can I expect during a therapy session?

During a therapy session, you can expect a safe, supportive environment where you can talk openly about what’s going on in your life. We’ll explore your feelings, discuss the challenges you're facing (whether it’s postpartum depression, anxiety, or relationship stress), and work on coping strategies that will help you feel more in control. Each session is personalized to your needs, and we’ll go at your pace. My goal is to help you feel empowered, supported, and on the path to emotional well-being.

7. Do you specialize in working with moms during pregnancy and postpartum?

Yes! I specialize in therapy for moms during pregnancy, postpartum, and the early years of motherhood. I understand that these times are filled with physical, emotional, and mental changes. Whether you’re navigating postpartum depression, anxiety, mom guilt, or the pressures of balancing work and family life, I offer the support you need. I also work with moms dealing with perinatal mood disorders and relationship strain to help you find a healthier, more balanced approach to motherhood.

8. How long will it take to feel better with therapy?

The timeline for feeling better varies from person to person, but therapy is a process. Some moms might feel relief after just a few sessions, while others may need longer to work through their challenges. Progress depends on your unique situation and goals. The important thing is that therapy gives you the tools to manage your emotions and feel more empowered as you work toward healing. I’m here to support you every step of the way, and we’ll adjust our work together based on your needs and progress.

9. How do I book a session with you?

Booking a session is simple! You can start by scheduling a free 15-minute consultation. During this time, we’ll talk about your needs, the struggles you're facing, and how therapy can help. From there, we’ll schedule your first session, and we’ll work together to find a time that fits your schedule. Virtual therapy allows us to connect no matter where you are in California, so you can access support from the comfort of your home.

10. Do you accept insurance?

I am not in network with any insurance companies. My fee is $250 per 50 minute session. I am an out-of-network provider and I am happy to provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
